Here are a few key things you need to pack in your dental emergency kit in case an accident happens on the softball field \u2013 or anywhere else!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Essential Items for a Dental Emergency Kit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the essentials items that can help with most dental emergencies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Medical-grade gloves<\/strong> \u2013 Latex (or vinyl) gloves are very important to prevent the spread of infection and germs, especially if you are treating someone else.<\/li><li><strong>Dental mirror<\/strong> \u2013 A small dental mirror with an attached light can help you see a wound in the dark corners of your mouth.<\/li><li><strong>Cotton balls and gauze pads<\/strong> \u2013 These soft items can help stop bleeding and cushion a cheek.<\/li><li><strong>Dental wax<\/strong> \u2013 This wax helps soothe irritation caused by the wires and brackets of metal braces.<\/li><li><strong>Dental floss<\/strong> \u2013 Popcorn kernels and other bits of food that often get stuck between teeth can cause a lot of discomfort and even pain. Floss can provide relief in these situations.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medication and Pain Relief<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A toothache or a physically damaged tooth can cause a lot of pain. That is why you should include pain relievers in your first aid kit, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Ibuprofen<\/strong> \u2013 An over-the-counter painkiller like ibuprofen can ease the pain of a dental injury. Avoid aspirin and other painkillers that thin the blood. If your dental injury causes bleeding, these anticoagulants may make it harder for your blood to clot.<\/li><li><strong>Orajel<\/strong> \u2013 This is a topical anesthetic commonly found in pharmacies that eases the pain from soft tissue damage.<\/li><li><strong>Ice pack<\/strong> \u2013 Holding an ice pack to your face off and on for 15 minutes at a time can provide temporary pain relief and reduce swelling.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where to Keep Your Dental Emergency Kit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have your dental emergency kit prepared, you need to consider where to store it.
